Climate Sceptics

So some dude posted a comment in reply to my last post.. climate sceptic guy – said what i wrote was a load of ‘cobblers’ – OK. well maybe i should have left it but i don’t understand ‘climate sceptics’ – it wasn’t like he had any science he was just one of those the-world-gets-warm-every-now-and-again people.. they don’t quote anything in particular just that in the last billion years there have been climate anomalies..

anyway if you are reading this then i hope you don’t need telling that i think he’s talking out of his arse and i don’t feel any remorse for deleting his dumb-ass post..i can’t hear people denying shit that’s in front of all our eyes. anyway, apparently this is a banksy – i found it on ffffound.com

Here is the News

Almost new year. Someone said yesterday that he thinks people can’t wait for the new year – new decade – put it all behind us and all that – i hadn’t really thought about it but yeah i guess maybe it will feel a bit different. I feel Obama is working hard, on some many different fronts but he’s gotta a mountain stacked against him.

I don’t know exactly what’s happening at the climate change conference right now – i hope that the developing nations shutting things down will have the desired effect of making the rest of us realise that this shit has real consequences – for a lot of these countries it could be life and death in 20 years time – instead we seem to be looking at ways of protecting the status quo whilst paying lip service to the idea of doing something about it.

It’s fucking hard for Obama – cos i am sure he knows that to sort out these problems has to mean telling people a whole lot of shit they don’t wanna hear – the best idea that i heard during his campaign was the ‘new green economy’ – providing people with jobs that don’t pollute – the idea is so huge that i don’t anyone has really grasped the enormity of it – it would need to be nothing short of revolutionary – and you gotta be careful with that word..

..and all the while Obama has to be elected for another term.. the idea of the republicans regaining power is equal parts chilling and unimaginable – i haven’t heard a republican with an idea since….

In other news my new band has our first gig in the new year at Trash bar here in Brooklyn – looking forward to getting out playing again. The world may be a mind-boggling mess but music can be a lovely refuge not simply to escape from it all but to recharge – get new perspective – get inspired – all those things.

Yesterday a DJ at the 10k run after-party played ‘Jungle Jazz’ by Kool and the Gang. I can’t remember having heard the original tune before but the beat was sampled in Pump Up the Volume and it’s a hot beat.. started reading about the way the tune was put together on wiki with this huge list of samples that it used down the bottom of the page – this record and the others cited in this article were THE soundtrack to my drinking/going-out dancing youth.
